So, it was International Women’s Day a day back and just like every other country in the world where women were being honored for their positive role in the society and the struggles to achieve that, the people in Pakistan also tried to follow the footsteps, but did we fail badly. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this was the most horrendous women’s day for Pakistani women in the recent past. I wouldn’t get into the debate of the rights and wrongs here, but what I really want to imply is, we have lost the essence. We have really lost the meaning of the day.
All things aside, the Aurat March was blown out of proportion. We completely forgot to make women feel special and all we decided to do was pick out slogans and hurl insults at each other. So much for celebrating women’s day. Right? We decided to let our egos get the best of our judgement and make women’s day the clash of two genders. Such a pity!
The entire purpose of writing this post was to make people realize that just like any other important day this day should have been commemorated and the women around should be respected. Even if for one day, we should keep our opinions and judgments aside and try to unite for the peace of not just one, but both genders.
